The nanowire battery – from Materials Today

Since the start of the digital era, the computational power and bit storage capabilities are growing at the well known rate given by Moore’s Law (more or less). On the other hand, the energy storage achieved in batteries is not grown so much in last years. It would be so necessary that researchers struggle for conceiving innovative ways of storing energy until to get higher density storage in batteries. The Rice lab of Professor Pulickel Ajayan is working in this direction and packed an entire lithium ion energy storage device into a single nanowire.
